Senior Network Engineer to serve as a Cloudflare SME and support the migration of legacy networking solutions to Cloudflare for a professional services org

Our valued professional services client is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to serve as a Cloudflare SME and support the migration of legacy networking solutions to Cloudflare!

Initial 1-year contract with possibility of extension. 40 hours per week, 100% Remote.

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for rolling out a variety of CloudFlare use cases centered around migrations and L3/L4/L7 protections for newly acquired entities. Each entity is unique and many of them are outside of North America, so much of the work will be performed outside of regular daytime hours.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support Cloudflare solutions for newly acquired entities, ensuring secure and optimized networking across various environments
• Lead migration efforts from existing network solutions (e.g., F5, Akamai) to Cloudflare, ensuring seamless transition with minimal operational impact.
• Deploy and manage L3/4/7 security protections, including DDoS mitigation, Magic Transit, and application-layer security measures.
• Architect and implement L7 hub solutions to optimize traffic management and security posture.
• Troubleshoot network performance, security, and availability issues related to Cloudflare or similar CDN and security products.
• Collaborate with internal teams, security engineers, and stakeholders to assess networking and security needs for each acquired entity.
• Develop and document best practices, migration playbooks, and operational procedures for scalable rollouts.

Must-Have Skills

• 5+ years’ experience as a Network Engineer
• Experience deploying enterprise-level Cloudflare, Akamai, or other Content Delivery Network (CDN) services in large-scale environments.
• Expertise in Layer 3, 4, and 7 protections, including DDoS mitigation and WAF (Web Application Firewall) solutions.
• Hands-on experience migrating from legacy networking solutions (e.g., F5) to modern cloud-based security and CDN platforms.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with international networking and regulatory compliance considerations.
• Familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud networking environments.
• Knowledge of automation and scripting for network security configurations (e.g., Terraform, Python, Ansible).
