Our Public sector client is seeking a Senior Product Lead to conduct problem discovery and ideation workshops, manage and prioritize the product backlog within the Innovation & AI team. - 133968

1 year contract, possibilities of extensions; Vancouver based, Hybrid - 2 days/month in office, in Addition, Must be able to come into the office for important in person meetings.

Must Have:

• 10+ years working experience as a Product Owner/Lead/Manager, which includes 3 years direct hands-on experience in the Agile practice and DevOps within an enterprise level, in emerging technologies, innovation delivery, or digital product leadership roles.
• Extensive experience liaising with product owners and developing design artifacts such as personas, journey maps, wireframes, story boards, user flows, process flows, site maps, prototypes, and mockups.
• Experience writing user stories including acceptance criteria. performing user research, analyzing user needs and solutions and aligning with business outcomes.
• Proven track record of experimenting with emerging technologies (e.g., AI, automation, cloud-native platforms, low-code tools) and turning prototypes into scalable business value.
• Experience contributing to prioritization of backlogs comprising of feature development and technical debt, quality assurance and supporting team delivery.
• Holds Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) training and certification like SAFe Practitioner, or commitment to take the course and obtain certification within 2 months from commencement of work.
• University degree in Computer Science or Business Administration or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)

Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of innovation initiatives-from idea exploration to pilot implementation-by driving product strategy, design, and execution.
• Partner with stakeholders and business leads to identify opportunities where emerging technologies (e.g., AI, automation, cloud-native solutions) can deliver measurable value.
• Build and maintain a roadmap of innovation experiments and prototypes, prioritizing based on feasibility, value, and strategic alignment.
• Coach and guide a technical team (developers, data scientists, AI engineers) to apply lean and agile principles to rapidly deliver working solutions.
• Manage risk by designing lightweight experiments and MVPs to test assumptions before scaling.
• Act as a champion for emerging technology adoption and product-thinking within the organization.
• Collaborate closely with other innovation leaders to embed innovation capabilities into enterprise service delivery

Deliverables:

• Create product backlogs that transposes business requirements and non-functional requirements into unambiguous user stories and acceptance criteria for delivery teams to build product.
• Plan, create and facilitate problem discovery and ideation workshops with multiple key stakeholders and end-user groups. Synthesize outcome of workshops and share back with key insights to derive next steps in product lifecycle.
• Creates problem statements, business process flows, product requirements documents and roadmaps to articulate product strategy to move opportunity forward.
