Our client, a prominent leader in the Sports & Entertainment industry, is seeking an accomplished Vice President of Software Engineering to spearhead the development of cutting-edge, customer-facing products and platforms.


Position Overview:

As the Vice President of Software Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development and execution of innovative software solutions that drive customer engagement. You will be responsible for overseeing a dynamic engineering team, fostering technical excellence, and ensuring the timely delivery of impactful products. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with a deep technical background to shape the future of customer-facing technologies in the sports and entertainment sector.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Lead, Mentor, and Develop a High-Performing Engineering Team (5-10 individuals): Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture while guiding the team through complex engineering challenges. Strong engineering leadership is essential for setting technical direction, mentoring team members, and ensuring adherence to best practices in software development.
  2. Oversee the End-to-End Lifecycle of Software Product Development: Take ownership of the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through deployment, ensuring the product’s design and implementation align with business goals and customer requirements. A deep understanding of both product management and software engineering principles is critical for making informed decisions at each phase, ensuring technical feasibility and business success.
  3. Guide the Development of Customer-Facing Platforms: Utilize advanced software engineering techniques and cutting-edge technologies to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions. A strong background in both front-end and back-end development is required to build robust, customer-centric platforms that provide excellent user experiences while meeting technical and business needs.
  4. Take an Active Role in Both Front-End and Back-End Development: Contribute directly to the development of efficient, maintainable software applications across the full stack. A strong technical background in various programming languages, frameworks, and architectures is essential to ensure that the product is not only functional but also performant, secure, and scalable.
  5. Collaborate Closely with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product management, business stakeholders, and other technical teams to ensure the seamless integration of business and technical solutions. A deep understanding of product engineering, from design to implementation, is necessary to translate business objectives into high-quality technical outcomes that drive growth.



Must Haves:

  • Proven experience in senior leadership roles (Director, AVP, or equivalent), with a strong technical foundation in full-stack development.
  • Hands-on expertise in full-stack development using modern technologies and frameworks, including JavaScript, Java, Next.js, and React.js.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering teams and manage the full lifecycle of software development projects, ensuring alignment with both technical and business objectives.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a strategic mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced environment.
