What You’ll Do
Lead and mentor a diverse team of Data Architects, Data Engineers, and BI Analysts providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities.
Foster a collaborative team culture, balancing the needs of different skill levels and ensuring effective knowledge sharing across the team.
Manage team workload and prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and timely delivery of BI solutions.
Collaborate with stakeholders to define BI requirements, identify key metrics, and deliver actionable insights that drive business performance.
Continuously evaluate and improve BI processes, tools, and methodologies, ensuring that the team remains adaptable to changing business needs.
Understand business priorities, gather requirements, and ensure BI solutions meet the expectations of end-users across various business functions.
Effectively manage expectations and communicate any potential risks or roadblocks.
Oversee BI governance practices to ensure consistency, data integrity, security, and compliance with internal and external data standards.
Implement and enforce best practices for data management, analytics workflows, and reporting standards.
Balance short-term requests with long-term strategic goals, maintaining agility in meeting shifting priorities and business requirements.
Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the BI team, keeping up to date with emerging BI technologies, techniques, and best practices.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering, with at least 2 years in people management and/or leadership role (an agile environment). Or 5+ years of experience in consulting Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Data Engineering with at least 2 years in a management or leadership role.
Proven experience in managing Data Architects, Data Engineers, and BI Analysts teams (minimum two out of mentioned three teams), ideally in a cloud-based environment such as Azure.
Strong background in BI development and reporting, including hands-on experience with SQL Server, Azure Synapse Analytics, Power BI, and other BI tools.
Experience in data modeling, ETL processes, data integration, and dashboarding/reporting tools.
Familiarity with modern data architecture principles and agile methodologies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities, with the flexibility to adapt to changing business requirements.
Project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and deliver projects within scope, budget, and timeline. Proficiency in coordinating cross-functional teams, managing resources, and ensuring alignment with business goals.
Familiarity with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA) and compliance standards is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.
A Master’s degree (MBA or similar) in a related discipline is preferred.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CBIP, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, etc.) are a plus.
