Role Overview

To support our vision of empowered young women challenging and transforming the world, we are currently seeking a Middle School Learning Strategist to help support our Middle School students. This individual, working under the guidance of the Director of Learning Strategies, will be responsible for supporting both the academic and social/emotional needs of students and encouraging students to become self-advocates for their learning. The Learning Strategies Teacher will also work with classroom teachers with specific strategies to differentiate instruction and assessment.

The successful candidate is enthusiastic, articulate and a creative teacher who communicates with ease and confidence with all stakeholders (i.e. other teachers, students, parents, etc). The candidate will be a part of an inclusive learning community that allows learners to thrive and prosper. The candidate will be comfortable engaging in innovative and diverse programming. The candidate will be a critical thinker who demonstrates initiative, integrity and attention to detail. The candidate brings a confident and assertive leadership style. They are an educator who never stops learning and continually seeks best practices in girls’ education to enrich their teaching.

Department: Learning Strategies

Reports to: Director, Learning Strategies

Liaises with: Principal, Middle School, Vice-Principal, Middle School, Middle School Teachers

Education: Bachelor of Education, Ontario Teacher Certification

Experience: 3-5+ years’ experience supporting students with learning plans

Special Education Additional Qualifications and experience

Classroom Teaching Experience (a definite asset)

ESL - Additional Qualification (asset)

Experience in a non-profit setting (asset)

Experience in an Independent School (asset)

Working Conditions: School/Office Environment, Mac, Google

Your Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Demonstrated experience assisting classroom teachers in providing appropriate accommodations to meet the needs of the students

Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of an IEP in consultation with the Director of Learning Strategies, classroom teachers, parents, students, and community resources

Knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials designed with the neurodiversity of students in mind

Demonstrated ability to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods

Participate in integrated team meetings (e.g. Student Success, Wellbeing) to ensure students are fully supported

Desire to seek opportunities that go above and beyond to contribute to a dynamic academic and co-curricular learning environment

Provide administrative support and assist with other duties as required
