Sturgeon Public Schools is currently recruiting for a Full-Time Temporary Educational Assistant 3 for a work assignment at Four Winds School.

Four Winds Public School is a new dual track Middle School located in Morinville and home to 430 students in grades 5 to 9. Students at Four Winds are engaged through inquiry learning. Thought-provoking questioning and guiding frameworks help students engage with, understand and solve problems creatively and critically. The school offers a number of exciting programs including Sport for Life, STEAM Academy, Performance Academy and Band. The school’s design is to enable students to connect with nature through an outdoor classroom, a learning garden and an amphitheatre. This assignment is subject to change based on operational requirements.

FTE: 1.0 FTE; 32.5 hours/week

Initial Assignment: Under the direction of the classroom teacher, the Educational Assistant position will be working with complex needs and disabilities.

Qualifications & Experience: Educational Assistant or Early Childhood Diploma or Certificate is required, complemented with two years experience working with students with challenging behaviours and applying positive behaviour supports and formal training in areas such as autism or behaviours. CPR and First Aid along with Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is required. Knowledge and experience with special needs, tube feeding, diapering and wheelchairs is required. Equivalencies that consist of a combination of education and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience working as an EA2 in a school environment with students with challenging behaviours may be considered.

Hourly Rate: $19.79 - $24.54 per hour, as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
