Description
Reporting to the Executive Director of Corporate Services, the Payroll Lead is responsible for leading the Division's payroll processes, ensuring the payroll and benefit administration of the School Division is completed accurately and on time.
FTE: 1.0 FTE; 35 hrs/week; 12 months per year; permanent
Responsibilities : Duties include but not limited to:
Preparation and processing of union and non-union payroll, benefits and pension
Preparation and transmission of reports to external agencies and employees
Monthly payroll analysis and variance reporting
Prepare and submit source deductions, pension submissions, T4's, Record of Employment, pension declarations, teacher service, salary eligibility reports, and related documents
Ensure appropriate processes are in place and maintained to meet audit and due diligence standards as it relates to pay and benefits
Maintain communication between Payroll and Human Resources to ensure proper workflow
Demonstrate knowledge of current legislation and application relating to pay and benefits
Interpretation and application of collective agreements, Board policies and government regulations
Lead the development of correspondence to employees regarding changes or impacts to pay and benefits
Assist in preparation of the annual budget relating to salaries, benefits and year end working papers
Ensure Payroll software systems are maintained and updated
Qualifications and Attributes:
Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP), with at least three years' experience or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) with at least 5 years' experience
Experience with LAPP and ATRF regulations is an asset
Accurate data entry and analytical skills
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Current Pay Range: $65,000 - $83,000 annual salary plus pension and benefits as per the General Employment Conditions.
