This position is available effective September 1, 2024. This 1-year position is available from the Support for Students Fund for the 2024-2025 school year. At the end of the one-year term, you will be staffed at St. Francis during the Spring Staffing process.
The Special Education Resource Teacher will support schools with students of concern and teachers in addition to providing resource at St. Benedict school. The successful candidate will partner with classroom teachers, school community and Learning Support Services Team to enhance support.
Description:
The main role will be:
Responsible for supporting exceptional students and students of concern
Responsible for delivering Reading and Math Intervention Programs
Responsible for working with the Special Education Consultant to enhance School Special Education Resource programs and services
Assisting with assessment (academic, behaviour and other as required)
Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop strategies for struggling students
Support Student Success strategies, including data collection and reporting to enhance learning for struggling students
Report to the Superintendent of Special Education or designate
Qualifications:
Must be qualified in Primary/Junior Divisions
Special Education Part 1
Considered an Asset:
Knowledge of Early Intervention strategies
Experience using SRA & WIAT III
Knowledge of assistive technology strategies and software
Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
Flexibility and adaptability
