Job Description:

What Is in It for You:

The Associate, Portfolio Management will be a key member of the Portfolio Management team and must have the ability to add value in the context of a leading a disciplined cash management process and providing support on the execution of investment processes that support various SLC clients with primary support for the US Sun Life general account liability accounts.

The candidate will build an understanding of risk limits, liquidity requirements, and portfolio policies to monitor across the asset classes that comprise the investment portfolios, including public bonds, private placements, commercial mortgages, real estate, and derivatives.

The Analyst will work closely with Investments, Asset Liability Management, Business Units, and all support groups, including Accounting, Finance, Tax, Legal, Compliance, and Actuarial.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Support portfolio manager in managing our US, Hong Kong, Bermuda, Singapore, and UK portfolios

  • Run cash management process, coordinate investment orders to invest available cash, create wire and asset transfers, and support multi-disciplined teams on notional cash inquiries.

  • Work closely with various team across the organization to ensure all portfolio liquidity and regulatory requirements are addressed

  • Run daily/weekly/quarterly reports to ensure that investment metrics are monitored and in compliance with established targets, including asset mix, interest rate risk, credit quality, and liquidity.

  • Support strategic initiatives (i.e. portfolio optimization, investment analysis, supporting income related initiatives, etc.)

  • Create client investment reports for quarterly presentations

  • Create new tools to monitor investment performance and risk metrics

  • Create operational efficiency and ensure consistent and effective controls are in place

  • Develop value-added reporting including trends in portfolios, across portfolios and asset classes

  • Respond to a variety of problems and inquiries.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required with a focus in business or a quantitative discipline preferred

  • 1-2 experience in similar type roles or functions

  • Strong interest in finance, investments

  • Strong analytical skills including knowledge of statistics and proficiency in spreadsheet analysis (nice to have: VBA, Access/Database, etc.)

  • Ability to apply critical thinking and strong problem solving skills

  • Strong verbal & written communication skills and analytical abilities.

  • Strong time management skills; flexible, adaptable, able to react quickly to emerging needs/problems

  • Takes initiative and follows up on tasks proactively

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized

  • Efficiency; experience designing and delivering process improvements

Salary Range

The Base Pay range is for the primary location of the job. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
