Job Description:
The Investment Solutions team is a part of Sun Life’s Group Retirement Services (“GRS”), which is Canada’s leading provider of Defined Contribution pension plans. Investment Solutions provides plan sponsors with timely, accurate and relevant information about Sun Life’s platforms of funds, fund line-up design, industry trends, and individual funds. Sun Life has relationships with 25+ investment managers that manage over 170 funds on behalf of our clients.
The primary accountability of the Investment Solutions Analyst is to ensure that GRS and its clients are provided with timely information regarding our investment platforms. The analyst further conducts research and participates in product development to maintain Sun Life’s leadership position in the Canadian Defined Contribution industry. Specifically, the analyst is accountable for supporting the Investment Solutions team, proactively managing and ensuring the quality of information we provide to clients, and communicating with and supporting other GRS teams.
What will you do ?
Support the Investment Solutions team
Contribute to Investment Review reports for plan sponsors
Develop Fund Selection reports for Investment Solutions Executives (ISE)’s to present to clients
Coordinate Investment Solutions team meetings including weekly huddles and quarterly governance meetings
Conduct research on new fund managers, products, and industry changes, including competitive analysis of other recordkeeper platforms and product offerings
Review and recommend improvements to Investment Review processes and content
Respond to adhoc requests from ISE’s for customized information and reporting
Attend and contribute to fund manager meetings.
Manage information provided to clients
Draft investment communications for plan sponsors and coordinate the process for their publication.
Update standardized reporting such as Rate of Return reports, Compliance certificate, Quarterly Investment Report
Maintain investment content on the plan sponsor website, including governance reports and fund policy documents
Work with Products team to ensure Morningstar information is updated and accurate.
Communicate with and support other teams within GRS
Assist CREs, Marketing Communications and Business Development with investment-related queries.
Provide responses for investment-related questions in RFP’s
Review and update marketing documents.
What do you need to succeed ?
2 years experience in the investment industry
University degree
Enrolment in or completion of a professional designation preferred (MBA, CFA)
As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual English-speaking manager outside Quebec.
Strong knowledge of investment management industry and products and services within the financial services market
Excellent analytical skills

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
