Job Description:

Hyrbid Role

Reporting to Director, Supplier Strategy & Integration, this position is responsible for supporting the implementation of the supplier strategy for Sun Life Canada/Canadian Operations and continuous improvement of Supplier Relationship Management practices.

This role will support our supplier, relationship and outsourcing strategies working closely with each business unit to develop and implement 3rd party solutions to support clients and internal business processes. This includes early engagement and input on the introduction of new 3rd party services and relationships, providing market research, competitive analysis and reporting progress on strategic supplier initiatives.

In addition to working with and supporting all Canadian business units, the incumbent collaborates with other specialized teams within our organization to set priorities, develop action plans and deliver results. This includes working with external service providers, CXO, Sourcing, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operational Business Intelligence, and Finance

Accountabilities also include the development of guidelines, procedures and reporting to ensure efficient and systematic control and management of ongoing supplier relationships. The Manager researches and analyzes supplier relationship management industry standards and proposes improvements to continually evolve Supplier Relationship Management and will also play a key role in executing the digital roadmap for SRM and cross-functional process alignment.

Additional accountabilities:

  • Support all aspects related to the implementation of suppliers, services, new tools, reporting and process improvement initiatives. Measuring, analyzing and monitoring implemented changes to business processes and making adjustments as needed.

  • Act as central point of contact for Internal business relationships and support the alignment of 3rd party services to business objectives and positive client outcomes

  • Control and monitor the flow of work, assign projects/tasks to team members

  • Plan, direct and evaluate the performance of a team engaged in carrying out day to day activities supporting our Suppliers

  • Anticipate client, internal business partner and supplier needs when participating in solution development with peers and cross-functional teams and engage the appropriate stakeholders to validate solutions

  • Participate in departmental, intra divisional and companywide projects including new outsourcing initiatives, supplier integrations as well as implementation of internal technologies, tools, processes and practices

  • Establish measures and targets for internal SRM team service levels. Ensure standards and processes align to Corporate Responsibility - Sustainability, Diversity Equity

  • This role will have direct reports

Specialized Knowledge/Skills

  • Expert knowledge of Supplier Relationship Management business processes and technologies within a related industry and extensive experience in a similar role

  • Ability to summarize large data sets into insights and present recommendations to leadership and showcase excellent communications skills (writing, speaking and listening) to various audiences and levels within and outside of the organization.

  • Ability to coach and support a high performing team, create a positive team environment and work closely with other leaders and colleagues regardless of position or level within and external to the organization

  • Ability to prioritize and manage various activities concurrently

  • Consultative and collaborative approach

  • Strong Project Management discipline and Business Analysis Skills

  • Change ambassador and strong influencer - Demonstrated relationship building and stakeholder management skills with ability to adapt and continuously improve in a fast-paced matrix environment

  • Curious and passionate about delivering an exceptional 'client experience' and continuously realizing improvements

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
