Job Description:

In Group Benefits, we serve more than 5 million Canadians - plan members and their dependents - through our more than 11,000 group benefit plans across the country. Our customers include employees, associations, affinity groups and creditors in virtually every industry in Canada, and we're proud to be their benefits provider.

The Sun Advantage Service Representative is committed to delivering proactive quality service, and partners with the Sales Representative to build and maintain client and broker relationships within a target market segment. The incumbent has a joint responsibility for conserving existing business by ensuring all aspects of the client and broker needs are met in a timely and satisfactory manner. The Service Representative is able to discuss issues related to group benefits and has a sound knowledge of Sun Life products and services. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

What will you do?

  • Review and triage requests to quote; decide whether to proceed with quotes; follow up on quotes

  • Gather data critical to quoting and installation of new business / amendments

  • Advise Brokers of rate adjustments

  • Service clients after installation of new and amended accounts

  • Review new sales

  • Promote Sun Life Financial's (SLF) new internet capabilities

  • Promote SLF's image and Group Product and Service capabilities with Plan Administrators and Brokers

  • Maintain open communications with other Sales Offices, Client Services, Underwriting to share service delivery improvement ideas

  • Actively seek to find solutions to client and broker issues

What you need to succeed?

  • Sound knowledge of group insurance benefits and products

  • Sound knowledge of client service procedures and best practices

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills

  • Client empathy and commitment to service

  • Time management and organizational skills

  • Analytical and problem solving ability

  • Strong team player

  • High sense of accountability and autonomy

  • Ability to manage deadlines and to work using influence and negotiation

  • Sound knowledge of Excel, Word and Internet

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
