We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead the advancement of Nursing Education in an interprofessional environment. This individual will be a key member of the organization’s innovative education and professional practice structure, reporting to the Director of Interprofessional Education. The ideal candidate is passionate about the importance of continuing education, professional development, student education, and academic scholarship. They are committed to managing education initiatives, advancing clinical practice, facilitating leadership development and interproffessional team work as well as leading quality improvement initiatives. They demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning, person-centred care and to the communities we serve.

 

Summary of Duties:

• Manages and leads nursing and interprofessional student and staff education initiatives, and supports teachers and learners with a focus on nursing staff education

• Promotes and contributes to advancing Sunnybrook Education Advisory Council (SEAC) strategic directions and initiatives

• Leads and/or represents nursing education on organization wide committees, and working groups including but not limited to: Sunnybrook’s Education Advisory Council (SEAC), Professional Council for Nursing, and Health Professions Leadership Committee.

• Facilitates leadership development and provides mentorship to nursing committees and councils in collaboration with nursing practice.

• Develops, facilitates, and evaluates key nursing and interprofessional education events/programs/workshops

• Applies education theory/best practices in education and explores the role of tools and technology with respect to educational outcomes

• Provide mentorship and educational counseling to nursing staff

• Leads and contributes to knowledge mobilization and education best practices for nursing and interprofessional initiatives

• Leads the development and evaluation of education related policies, processes and projects

• Contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement activities that advance nursing education and practice

• Lead and contribute to research/scholarship/quality improvement with a focus on education research and initiatives

• Provides leadership for key education related Health Human Resource (HHR) initiatives

• Work collaboratively with Sunnybrook’s leadership team including SEAC, Professional & Education Leaders, Advanced Practice Nurses/Clinical Educators, Patient Care Managers and Directors of Operations. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Interprofessional Practice, the Professional Leader for Nursing, the existing ‘Education Leader – Nursing,’ as well as with Nursing Education support staff and other key contributors to nursing education Qualifications/Skills:

• Registered Nurse in good standing

• Graduate (Masters) degree in a education/Nursing/research/administrative or related area (applicants with degree in progress will be considered) required

• Additional education in Leadership and/or Adult Education • Minimum (5) years experience in profession and (3) years of leadership experience preferred (e.g. advanced practice, professional practice or education role).

• Experience as a nursing preceptor, mentor, or clinical instructor valued • Academic/status appointment with college/University preferred • Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) certification valued (if applicable)
