They will assess patients who have been triaged via Health811 to Toronto’s Virtual ED – a partnership between Sunnybrook and the University Health Network (UHN). The NP will use a video-first approach after admin registration to assess patients’ presenting complaint/issue and determine appropriate next steps: follow-up with their regular provider, outpatient investigations or referral, escalation to Virtual ED physician, or transfer to in-person Emergency Department care. Successful candidates will be responsible for supporting and being part of a high-performance team, ensuring the delivery of safe and high-quality care for patients and families. The development and direction of the program is agile and iterative, and the NP may be asked to assist in receiving referral requests from other physicians/clinics/healthcare providers, assist with quality assurance follow-up for ED patient investigations, see lower acuity ED patients, and/or other responsibilities as needed.
