Physiotherapist- Outpatient Services - Temporary full-time 2024-11002

Summary of Duties

The Physiotherapist is responsible for carrying out professional assessments and treatment programs in the outpatient treatment areas.  The main clinical area of focus is the musculoskeletal, trauma, and Falls  populations, other populations including, transplant, neurological/stroke, burns, complex care, oncology, and / or amputee  may be part of the caseload.  Broad ranges of treatment techniques are utilized to alleviate pain and restore movement, strength and function according to rehabilitation goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform subjective and objective patient assessments to identify clinical problems and patient goals.
  2. Based on the analysis of examination findings, select and implement a treatment program that is coordinated with the interdisciplinary team to achieve the client/patient’s rehabilitation goals.
  3. Manage a patient caseload in relation to the referral base.
  4. Document all aspects of the therapeutic processes in the patient’s medical record
  5. Discuss treatment progress with members of the therapeutic team.
  6. Educate the patient and family members to reinforce treatment programs.
  7. Participate actively in the clinical teaching and indirect supervision of PT and PTA students and volunteers.
  8. Participate in team building and interdisciplinary team activities (e.g. team meetings, quality, education) as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  9. Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of employees, patients, Sisters, students, volunteers, physicians and visitors including but not limited to: compliance with the safety standards of the Hospital and applicable legislation.
  10. Conduct their work in a safe manner; prevention, identification and reporting of safety issues and problems; taking corrective action, where possible; attendance at safety meetings / training / updates in accordance with the Hospital’s standards.

Qualifications/Skills

  1. Successful completion of a post-secondary degree from an accredited physical therapy program or equivalent education as recognized by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  2. Current registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. 
  3. Minimum one year of related clinical experience preferred.
  4. Experience with an outpatient setting is preferred.
  5. Experience with Amputee/trauma population preferred.
  6. Excellent professional judgement and interpersonal communication skills with clients, families, team members and community partners.
  7. Competence in the practice of evidence based physiotherapy, with the application of appropriate practice models and outcome measures.
  8. Good time management and organizational skills.
  9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  10. Evidence of good attendance, a satisfactory performance history and a discipline-free record required.
  11. Demonstrated commitment to Person Centered Care approach and principles.
