Salary: $30/hr + % in lieu of benefits and vacation
ROLE SUMMARY:
Centre for Injury Prevention is seeking a research assistant to support a new research initiative called Building Traumatic Brain Injury Prevention Strategies at Sunnybrook: Prevalence, Perspectives, Prevention (3P study). This is a project aims to explore characteristics of the TBI patient population as well as patient reported characteristics of injury events. The understanding from this study will help inform prevention strategies to be later developed outside the scope of this work. The selected research assistant will be directly involved in recruiting concussion patients, collecting data and collaborating with other study staff.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Research Assistant will conduct key tasks including, but not limited to:
- Supporting all phases of the research process, including:
- Participant recruitment
- Collection, management, and organization of data
- Data analyses
- Preparation of findings for dissemination
- Communication with research participants for the purposes of recruitment and data collection
- Create, organize, and maintain study logs and documentation
- Conduct literature reviews
- Assist with qualitative and quantitative data analyses
- Support submission of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
- Contribute to the presentation of research results at seminars, scientific conferences and related settings
- Support renewals or amendments to REB applications
- Support ongoing research activities by working independently and as part of a team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- A minimum Bachelor’s level degree in Psychology, Biology/Life Sciences, Public Health, Neuroscience, Health Sciences or a related discipline
- At least one year of related research work experience
- Strong quantitative and/or qualitative research skills
- Experience with REDcap for data entry is an asset
- Willingness to learn new database and/or data management programs
- Existing knowledge, experience and/or interest in concussion/TBI
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while achieving specific goals within specific timeframes
- Strong data management and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of reference management software (i.e. Zotero, End Note, Mendeley or related applications) is an asset
- Highly motivated
- Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills in addressing multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment
