Sr. Secretary - Odette Cancer Centre: Patient and Family Support Program - Temporary Full-Time - 2024-10276

Summary of Duties:
•    Daily, screen new patient referrals sent to the Program via OOA Dashboard and triage to appropriate discipline.
•    Book in-person and virtual appointments for HCP using Quadramed, Excelicare, Outlook calendar and OTN/Zoom virtual care platforms.
•    Prepare for Doctors’ clinics by calling patients with reminders
•    Greet and support patients, family members and staff in Patient and Family Support reception
•    Respond to a variety of incoming calls or direct patient/family member inquiries.
•    Triage inquires to appropriate healthcare discipline determining appropriate course of action such as transferring calls, taking messages, or paging the appropriate individuals(s).
•    Provide administrative/secretarial support services for the healthcare professionals within the Patient and Family Support Program such as: photocopying and faxing, sorting incoming mail, preparing excel tracking reports, ordering office supplies, arranging for equipment repairs, and facilitating paperwork for time sensitive palliative care referrals.
•    Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:
•    Requires successful completion of a two (2) year Administrative Assistant. Program/Diploma at the community college level plus a minimum of two (2) years related practical experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use current computer software applications such as Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
•    Proven proficiency in keyboarding (minimum 60 wpm net score).
•    Demonstrated proficiency in English grammar, with excellent verbal and written communication and comprehension skills.
•    Proven good listening skills and positive customer service focus with providing patients and their family members with support, comfort and empathy.
•    Well-developed organizational and prioritization skills in order to meet deadlines.
•    Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
