Program Support Facilitators - Anishinaabemowin Immersion Camp

Program Dates and Locations:

  • Nipigon Area: July 7-11, 2025
  • Geraldton Area: July 14-18, 2025

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board, Superior North Catholic District School Board, and Anishinaabemowin Boodawe Committee invite applications for Program Support Facilitators to assist with this year's Summer Anishinaabemowin Immersion Camp.

This is a support role focused on helping educators and fluent language speakers deliver culturally rich, play-based learning experiences for children aged 5-9. If you have a passion for working with children and supporting their learning journey, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to educators, fluent language speakers, and Elders in delivering program activities.
  • Assist with small-group activities that promote Anishinaabemowin language acquisition through play, storytelling, and other culturally relevant experiences.
  • Help prepare and organize program materials, including setting up and cleaning up activity spaces.
  • Ensure student engagement, offering encouragement and supervision during both indoor and outdoor sessions.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure the program runs smoothly and safely, following established procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with students, supporting them in developing social and communication skills in a culturally immersive environment.
  • Assist with student supervision, ensuring a safe and supportive atmosphere for learning and play.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or youth in educational, recreational, or support settings is preferred.
  • Understanding of or interest in Anishinaabemowin, Indigenous cultures, and traditions is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to support and encourage positive behavior and engagement in small-group settings.
  • Physical ability to assist with program activities, including standing, walking, and participating in outdoor experiences.
  • Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).

  • The names of three (3) professional references, including one current or most recent supervisor, along with contact information.
  • A written authorization permitting the Board to contact these references.
