Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Respiratory Services, the successful candidate will become an integral member of SHN’s multidisciplinary team mandated to provide compassionate, patient and family centered care. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating RT related patient care and practice activities that include but are not limited to: patient assessments, mechanical ventilation management, oxygen therapy, equipment testing/sanitation/maintenance, patient education/counselling and pulmonary function testing (as required). Other duties as assigned.

• Current valid C.R.T.O. registration
• Current valid BCLS certification
• Strong clinical skills and familiarity with weaning protocols and current ventilation modalities
• Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
• Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
• Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
• Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
• Demonstrates values consistent with SHN’s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
• Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to SHN's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
• Demonstrates excellent work performance and attendance record

The successful candidate will be assigned a home site, but may be scheduled at any SHN hospitals based on the departmental operational needs.
