Job Description:

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Respiratory Therapy, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance procedures on all respiratory related equipment, ensure effective inventory control and procurement of respiratory supplies. The successful applicant must contribute to creating a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff and others, working in compliance with the hospital code of conduct and the provisions of health and safety policies and legislation. Utilizes protective equipment provided and identifies and reports hazards.

Requirements:
• Completion of high school, and completion of a recognized post-secondary Electronic Technician program is an asset.
• Minimum 1 year of practical and related experience in a health care setting, working with respiratory therapy equipment and/or anesthesia equipment preferred
• At least 1 year experience in inventory control, procurement, preventative maintenance and minor repair of various respiratory and related equipment
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and an excellent driving record
• Computer proficiency
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislation
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.)
• Knowledge of applicable Hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and practices
• Standard First Aid/ Basis Rescuer Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) certification an asset
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and collaborate as an active participant with others in assisting with the delivery of care to patients
• Ability to perform responsibilities in a courteous manner
• Ability to maintain and protect patient confidentiality
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent work performance and attendance record
