Job Description:
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager, Workplace and Safety, the incumbent will be responsible for providing support to Health and Safety programs.
Responsibilities:
First contact for employees when contacting WHS team, knowledgeable to triage and direct inquiries to appropriate WHS team member
Respirator fit testing and data entry of test results
Send notices to staff for outdated tests and immunizations
Send compliance list to managers
Assis and lead annual flu campaign co-ordination in collaboration with the Occupational Health Nursing team
Compliance tracking and follow-up of employee mandatory testing and immunizations including preplacement documents and COVID and influenza proof of vaccines
Assist in the scheduling and coordination of health, disability and safety activities and training
Maintain the Occupational Health calendars, i.e.) Respirator fit testing, pre-placement calendars
Promote health and safety at SHN by assisting with the preparation of information packages, presentations, newsletter articles etc.
Provide administrative support (minute taking) to Scarborough Health Network Joint Health and Safety Committees in collaboration with the WHS Safety Specialists
Administrative activities including data entry into the confidential employee health records documentation system, expense reimbursement review
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (3rd or 4th year student preferred)
Knowledge of and experience in the practical implementation of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and associated regulations and standards (i.e. Ont. Fire Code, Ont. Building Code, Environmental Protection Act, NIOSH, ASHRAE and CSA standards, TDG, WHMIS, etc.)
Computer proficiency including MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Completion of a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma related in Health and Safety an asset
Excellent knowledge of Meditech payroll system
Experience using Parklane computer system an asset
