Assistant Principal of Iron Ridge Secondary Campus

Effective August 27, 2025 to June 30, 2026



Iron Ridge Secondary Campus is home to a dedicated team of approximately 15 teachers and 6 support staff, serving approximately 400 students in grades 9-12. Since its opening in 2024, the campus has continued to grow, offering a dynamic learning environment that embraces innovative, collaborative, and flexible educational practices - including support for alternative and non-traditional learning pathways.

The Assistant Principal Selection Committee is seeking a forward-thinking, visionary leader with a proven record of excellence in classroom teaching. Experience in school administration, along with demonstrated instructional leadership and the ability to lead staff with confidence and composure, are considered strong assets.

The ideal candidate will bring exceptional interpersonal skills and a deep commitment to fostering strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the broader community. They will play a key role in cultivating a positive school culture, supporting inclusive learning environments, and staying calm and focused when navigating challenges. A passion for meaningful community connection is essential, as the assistant principal will lead efforts to strengthen partnerships with parents, local businesses, industry leaders, and the other Iron Ridge campuses in Blackfalds - all with the goal of enriching the educational experience and supporting student success across diverse learning needs.



The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Evidence of exemplary interpersonal skills.

  • Evidence of a commitment towards building and promoting collaborative environments.

  • Evidence of establishing structures and supports focused on concurrent academic and social/emotional interventions.

  • Evidence of leadership experience with diverse students.

  • Evidence of strong Indigenous Education foundational knowledge for the benefit of all students.

  • Evidence of a thorough understanding and application of current educational research.

  • The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of significant progress toward or achievement of a Master of Education degree within the first three years of their assistant principal position.

  • Evidence of high expectations for student achievement, literacy assessment, and effective literacy programming and interventions.

  • Evidence of a commitment to leading and supporting professional development and school improvement initiatives aligned with jurisdictional and provincial directions.

  • Evidence of a thorough understanding of how technology can be used to support and facilitate learning.



The new assistant principal of Iron Ridge Secondary Campus will also be expected to actively participate in the Wolf Creek Administrators’ Association and demonstrate a strong commitment toward our school district's vision.
