With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a dynamic school board and is seeking a full-time Carpenter within the East/West Facilities & Maintenance department.

This is a permanent 12-month position.
Hours are from 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. (Hours of work will fall within the evening shift band and may change consistent with the collective agreement. Hours to be confirmed upon hire.)
Flexible home base, to be determined by management, based on system needs.
key accountabilities
Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, Maintenance Services responsible for:
- Repairing millwork, furniture and equipment
- Refurbishing of portables
- Door hardware repairs
- Responsible for safe operation and safekeeping of tools supplied by the Board, safe operation and maintenance of company vehicle, while in use
- Maintain accurate records (e.g. work orders, timesheets, vehicle maintenance and mileage reports)
- Perform other job related duties as required
- The use of proper safety protective equipment is required at all times
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certificate of competence in general carpentry from Ontario Ministry of Skills and Development (candidates must submit their Carpentry Certificate with their application)
- Tradesman with good knowledge of the building trades
- Minimum of five years (5) practical experience in construction, maintenance, or service industry
- Technical knowledge of building materials and their uses
- Ability to function without close supervision
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Must be proficient in the English language in order to comprehend manuals and maintain work records
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver's "G" License and access to a reliable automobile (candidates must submit their driver's license with their application). If candidates are selected for an interview, they must submit proof of good driving record before the interview
This is a CUPE Local 4400 union position with a pay rate of $40.20/Hr.
