With a staff of 14,000, the TCDSB is a dynamic school board and is seeking 3 ( three ) full time Maintenance Mechanic positions within the Facilities Maintenance East/West Department.

Hours are from 3 : 30 p.m . to 11 : 30 p.m. (Hours of work will fall within the evening shift band and may change consistent with the collective agreement. Hours to be confirmed upon hire.)

Flexible home base, to be determined by management, based on system needs.

Written and practical tests will be facilitated to short listed candidates.

Key A ccountabilities

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, Maintenance Services this position will be responsible for:

Completing an established preventative maintenance routine

Conducting inspections, adjusting and performing repairs to various mechanical/electrical components (not exceeding 120 volts)

Maintain accurate records (e.g. vehicle maintenance, work orders, timesheets, etc.)

Clean up and dispose of debris upon completion of the day or job

Perform other related duties as assigned or required

The use of proper safety protective equipment is required at all times

Qualifications

High School Diploma, or equivalent (candidates must submit proof of Grade 12 or equivalent)

Candidates preferred with College Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical technician or certification, or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) Facilities and Industrial Maintenance certification also preferred

Must be proficient in the English language in order to comprehend maintenance manuals

Minimum of three (3) years related experience in inspecting and repairing mechanical/electrical components, such as gym equipment, internal and external lighting systems, life safety devices, air handler units, roof top units, exhaust fans and other building mechanisms etc.

Familiar with the devices within mechanical rooms of large buildings/facilities/schools (ie. Motors, pumps, boilers, chillers etc.)

Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance and working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and maintenance equipment, materials and tools

Ability to work independently at various job sites and respond to the administrative requirements of processing and completing work orders

Must possess a valid Ontario Driver's G license (candidates must submit their driver's license) and have access to a reliable automobile. If candidates are selected for an interview, they must submit proof of good driving record before the interview.

This is a CUPE Local 4400 union position with a pay rate of $ 32.07 /H r .
