Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and strategy
- Lead, maintain, and continuously improve HSE program, with a focus on risk assessment and mitigation for national wind power projects.
- Collaborate with senior management to establish regional HSE objectives, align with Global HSE goals, and manage the departmental budget.
- Define and implement the strategic HSE plan, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with Installation, Services, and other support department managers to develop and meet operational HSE requirements.
- Continue the integration of the VelocityEHS management system, ensuring its effective use and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the management, training, and development of the HSE team, fostering a culture of safety and continuous learning.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal and provincial laws, as well as industry standards.
- Identify and effectively control risks related to organizational operations, integrating HSE considerations into procurement processes and operational planning.
- Collaborate with government authorities during audits, investigations, and other necessary interventions.
- Promote and communicate a strong HSE culture across all levels of the organization.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on HSE issues, providing guidance and innovative solutions to the management team.
- Maintain a solid presence in challenging situations, demonstrating composure and effective decision-making under high stress.
- Update and monitor key performance indicators in health and safety, implementing effective measures to address issues.
- Manage the qualification process for organizations as required by clients (e.g., IS-Networld (ISN) qualification).
- Develop and execute a strategic plan for effective claims management and promote return-to-health/return-to-work processes.
- Undergraduate Bachelor's degree (BAC) in a relevant field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5 years in Health and Safety Management Systems.
- Proven experience in the management and implementation of essential OSH programs (e.g., electrical safety, lockout-tagout, working at heights, ergonomics, confined spaces, WHMIS).
- Experience in high-risk assessments.
- Background in the wind industry or related sectors (e.g., construction, industrial, power plants, petroleum or other).
- Experience working closely with blue-collar workers on-site, with the ability to effectively communicate HSE culture to teams.
- CRSP certification (PSAC) is required.
- Solid knowledge of multiple ISO standards, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Extensive experience with Canadian Occupational Health and Safety regulations and standards, including HSO requirements.
- Willingness to travel
- Proficiency in French and English (oral and written).
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to mobilize and influence others.
