Description

The principle responsibilities of the HEMODIALYSIS ASSISTANT include: assisting the Registered Nurse in the care of patients in the Hemodialysis Unit; priming, dismantling and disinfecting of dialysis machines; set up and prime off unit machines; performing transportation responsibilities via bed, walker and/or wheelchair; dial sate sampling; stocking the unit and storage room with supplies; assisting patients with weighing, washroom trips, transfers, heavy lifting, etc.; adhering to and performing routine safety measures and preventative maintenance; performing departmental duties; retrieving and documenting in patient’s chart in addition to protecting patient records/information from all unauthorized persons; ensuring general cleanliness of work area; assisting the Registered Nurse and/or patient with other duties as assigned; performing other duties consistent with the job classification as required.
