University Health Network (UHN) is a research hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and a member of the Toronto Academic Health Science Network. The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN have made it a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care. Research across UHN's five research institutes spans the full spectrum of diseases and disciplines, including cancer, cardiovascular sciences, transplantation, neural and sensory sciences, musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation sciences, and community and population health.

The Schroeder Arthritis Institute is the largest multidisciplinary arthritis hub in Canada, integrating medical, surgical and basic science aspects of Orthopedics, Hand, Osteoporosis and Rheumatology with a goal of making a global impact in discovery, learning and patient care. The Institute comprises of 51 scientists and clinician-scientists, 113 trainees and 200 staff.

Data Collection: Visit designated clinics to gather data according to the research protocol within the Division of Orthopedics. Administer surveys for research projects at clinics ensuring that data is collected accurately and efficiently. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in the collection and handling of all research data.

Data transcription: Enter collected data into electronic databases, ensuring that all information is recorded accurately and promptly. Assist with the organization and management of collected data, including the categorization, storage and back ups of data files.

Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling and coordinating clinic dates, research-related meetings, and interviews as needed. Maintain accurate records of research activities, including data logs, and other relevant documentation. Support the preparation of research materials, such as questionnaires, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other data collection tools as needed. Assist with the preparation and submission of protocol amendments, presentations, reports, and other project deliverables as needed.

Communication: Maintain regular communication with the research team, providing updates on data collection progress and any issues encountered in the field. Liaise with clinic staff, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operation of the data collection process.

Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure that all data collection and transcription activities comply with the research protocol and institutional guidelines. Participate in quality assurance activities, such as data validation checks and audits. Report any deviations from the research protocol to the Project Coordinator, Research Manager or Principal Investigator immediately.

Other Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Coordinator, Research Manager or Principal Investigator that support the overall goals of the research project. Stay informed of developments in the field of research that may impact the project.

Previous research experience preferred

Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

Knowledge of medical terminology is valued

General knowledge of research methodology and clinical research ethics

Demonstrate strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, verbal and written communication skills,and flexibility in dealing with diversity

Ability to attend to detail and produce accurate, high quality work

Ability to multi-task, work in an active and high-volume clinical environment

Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational, time management and problem solving skills

Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
