General Purpose

The role of the Clinic Aide is to assist physicians and other practitioners/nurses in client service areas in the Health and Performance Centre (HPC) and Student Health Services. The Clinic Aide will monitor the appointment schedule, prepare and restock exam rooms, bring students/patients to exam rooms for their appointments, manage clinical supply inventory and perform cleaning practices according to Infection Prevention and Control guidelines for clinical environments. The Clinic Aide ensures that theappointment schedule is followed and the clinic flow is maintained. The Clinic Aide promotes a welcoming and inclusive environment for patients and provides chaperoning during appointments on request. The Clinic Aide will support the administrative and non-clinical work of the nurses in the triage area as assigned/requested by the nurse.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Services, the role of the Clinic Aide is to assist clinical staff in patient service. The successful incumbent will utilize their health care setting experience to support clinical flow and efficiency. The clinic aide will closely monitor the Collaborative Health Record (CHR) schedule and will escort students from the waiting area to their appointments; will clean and prepare examination rooms for each visit; will support the administrative and non-clinical work of the physicians and clinical staff as requested.

Regular tasks include but are not limited to monitoring the electronic appointment schedule to ensure patient’s are seen without delay; room restocking and equipment cleaning according to PIDAC best practices; room set-up responsibilities; management of medical supply inventory and ordering.

Requirements

Requirements for this position include a high school diploma with at least one month of work experience in a clinical setting, or a combination of related education and experience. A healthcare background is an asset. Other requirements include exceptional organizational skills and time management, knowledge of medical terminology and the Infection Prevention and Control practices for clinical spaces/PIDAC guidelines.

Teamwork, effective communication, and a positive attitude are required for this role. The incumbent will also demonstrate an approach that supports diversity and inclusion with equal access to health care services when interacting with patients, visitors and co-workers; Demonstrated focus on patient-centred care with respect of patient privacy and confidentiality; Familiarity with core elements for medical clinic office best practices will be an asset.

Employee Type: Temporary
Hourly rate: $21.55 - $24.10 per hour
