Duties and Responsibilities

The Immunochemistry section, Laboratory Services is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills, to perform routine and complex trace chemical analysis utilizing ELISA, for a variety of food allergens, mycotoxins, antibiotics and veterinary drugs in various matrices including soil, water, food, vegetation and meat, adhering to ISO 17025 standards for quality assurance and control. Additional duties include: participating in research projects and providing technical support with the development of methodologies and techniques; providing instruction to trainees in how to preform analytical procedures and techniques; efficiently and safely analyzing high priority and critical samples; preparing samples for safe and stable transportation to internal and external laboratories; communicating results to clients; managing data and receiving and tracking samples using LIMS; assisting in preparation of monthly and special reports and summaries of statistics; and general laboratory functions , including maintaining laboratory cleanliness and safety.

Requirements

  • Three year community college program in a relevant field of study plus one year related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated skills/knowledge and experience related to quantitative ELISA methods for the detection of food allergens, antibiotics, veterinary drugs
  • Excellent dexterity and fine motor skills to repeatedly and accurately pipette high volumes of samples
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Excellent self-motivation and interpersonal strengths to work effectively with co-workers and clients
  • Experience working in a high-volume, time critical laboratory
  • Proven skills in meeting tight, client-driven deadlines
  • Working knowledge of laboratory health/safety practices
  • Working knowledge of QA/QC protocols and ISO 17025 quality programs.
  • Occasional need for overtime required during high volume periods.
