The Manager, Business Processes & Systems, will lead strategic technology projects that make it possible to meet the key deliverables of the Office of Registrarial Services (ORS), developing action plans and delegating tasks to team members to ensure fast, accurate, and secure information delivery to students, staff, and faculty. The Manager strategically positions the office to work with existing campus technologies, will be an expert in process optimization and best practices, and will have in-depth knowledge and understanding of all current and future Student Information Systems (SIS) business processes. The incumbent is integral in ensuring the appropriate documentation of all ORS system processes and will facilitate the ongoing review and modification of these processes as demands/requirements change to support and maximize efficiency and effectiveness.

As a leader within ORS with 4 FTE, the Manager is responsible for the implementation, and ongoing support of systems and is required to have a deep understanding of how the many systems support each process. The Manager is one of the ORS’ primary contacts with Computing & Communication Services (CCS) staff to realize the maximum potential of ORS systems in relation to integration of these systems and other campus systems. Working in partnership with CCS and functional staff in ORS, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining and, where appropriate, expanding the use of technology within ORS to streamline systems and processes and to support the optimal use of resources throughout the Office of Registrarial Services. The incumbent is effective at understanding current state, analyzing potential solutions, supporting the ongoing development of systems, and analyzing and making recommendations to improve ORS processes and systems. Other key duties include overseeing the integration of change management throughout the management of projects and overseeing the provision of exceptional help desk support services to end users of ORS systems and services.

Requirements of the position include:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of six (6) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Professional certification from a recognized provide in Business Analysis such as IIBA (e.g., Certification of Competency in Business Analysis, Certified Business Analysis Professional, Professional in Business Analysis) preferred.
  • Experience in implementing and providing on-going support to large scale IT initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of Registrarial and other administrative management systems, with experience in the higher education sector an asset.
  • Strong leadership, business analysis, project management, and change management skills and experience required, including process analysis and development experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to liaison and facilitate effective communication between business and technical teams.
  • Knowledge of organizational behaviour methodology and tools for identifying technological and structural changes that will optimize team performance, as well as align employee behaviour and deliverables with strategic goals.
  • Experience including supervising, hiring, training, motivating, and performance management of staff particularly in a unionized environment.
  • Advanced judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills with a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others, coach team members, and build positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability, innovation, and initiative.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and change initiatives that align with organizational strategies and/or provide opportunities to increase efficiency.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet established deadlines and manage often conflicting priorities.
