Description
Creating Futures, Leading and Learning for All
The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) is committed to equity in employment. As an equal opportunity employer, we are committed to establishing a qualified workforce that is reflective of the diverse population we serve. The UCDSB is committed to providing accommodations [for people with disabilities]. If you require an accommodation, we will work with you to meet your needs. This would be facilitated upon receiving an interview and would be done by contacting Human Resources at AskUCHR@ucdsb.on.ca .
Applications are now being accepted for the Secondary Teacher Occasional List. Successful candidates will receive day-to-day teaching assignments through our Occasional call out system for schools selected within the UCDSB. Please visit www.ucdsb.on.ca to view a copy of our Board map to view where our schools are located. As an occasional you are not expected to travel to every school. You choose the locations where you are willing to travel to upon hire.
Note: Applications are not being accepted for virtual teaching assignments.
Joining the UCDSB in an occasional capacity is a great way to gain experience for those looking to obtain a long-term occasional or permanent position with Upper Canada DSB. You can also apply directly to long-term occasional and permanent positions even if you are not currently on the occasional list.

UCDSB requires your current and two most recent direct supervisors.
If your experience is in a day-to-day occasional capacity ensure that you list the length of time that you worked for that Supervisor and whether the assignment was casual day-to-day or in a long-term occasional capacity.
Placement Teacher References: If providing a Placement Teacher as a reference, The UCDSB will require confirmation and approval from the Principal at the Placement School that the deferred reference (Placement Teacher) is approved to provide reference on behalf of the Principal.
The UCDSB does not accept colleagues or personal references.
Selection Process:
Applicants selected for an interview will be invited to attend a virtual live interview via Microsoft Teams. Interviews typically include a panel of two (2) Hiring Managers.
Candidates will be shortlisted based on school preferences, specific qualifications, and/or availability.
The UCDSB selection process includes a review of required qualifications, interview and assessment process, and reference checks. All employment offers are conditional on candidates providing a valid criminal record check for the vulnerable sector.
