As an Advisor, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion - Communications, Equity and Partnerships with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for leading the implementation of Vancouver Coastal Health’s EDI priority actions in support of delivering on our organizational commitment for a diverse workforce reflective of the communities we serve, and sustaining a workplace culture that is inclusive, welcoming and supportive of diversity.
  • Contribute to advancing VCH’s equity journey, building organizational capability and competency for greater inclusive recruitment and retention practices as well as cultural responsiveness, and fostering systemic change and measurable outcomes through the creation of programs, evaluation plans, tools and training.
  • Play the role of catalyst, advisor, collaborator and educator, working with all VCH departments, services and programs to develop partnerships, adopt new practices and inspire others.
  • Bring demonstrated experience in diversity, accessibility, inclusion and employment equity program creation, implementation and evaluation, drawing on exceptional communications, change and project management, learning and development, and evaluation skills.
  • Actively support the alignment of diversity and inclusion recruitment initiatives with the current and emerging needs of the organization, including ensuring that recruiters and hiring managers increase their awareness of unconscious bias and are well informed and supported to fulfill their hiring mandates.
  • Establish baseline metrics and KPIs for the program through collecting and analyzing data, the Advisor will measure progress and impact to help drive decisions and bring creativity and strategic thinking to identify new opportunities and approaches to address systematic bias and organizational barriers.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Master's Degree in a relevant discipline such as Social Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Health Administration, Political Science.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience in equity, diversity and inclusion program and project management, change management, organization development, partner engagement, training and development, and conducting program evaluations or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Lived experience with diversity, inclusion and equity considerations.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of change management, project management and communication key principles and best practices to develop and oversee change initiatives. Applies change management methodologies in the design and development of various programs, frameworks and tools.
  • Applies comprehensive knowledge, skill and experience in developing and implementing diversity-focused recruitment, guidelines, tools and training to educate and achieve a high level of diversity and inclusion hiring
  • Sound knowledge of federal and provincial human rights and employment policy and legislation relevant to diversity, inclusion and equity.
  • Strong project management, prioritization and planning skills in the design and delivery of diversity, inclusion and equity programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program evaluation.
  • Superior writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Applies superior judgment and political expertise to communicate sensitive information to, and collaborate with, a variety of internal and external partners.
  • Uses superior team building, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills to facilitate critical thinking and problem resolution.
  • Fosters creativity, innovation, and systems thinking in strategic planning involving cultural shifts and large scale change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and meetings with multi-level and multidisciplinary staff to achieve effective outcomes.
  • Plays a consultative and facilitator role for internal teams on topics such as inclusive leadership, unconscious bias, equity, dimensions of diversity, and social identity.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
