Job Summary

Come work as an Occupational Therapist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)! Relocation Assistance may be available.

Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Occupational Therapist to join the Assertive Community Treatment team in the Vancouver Community Mental Health Service. Apply today to join our team!

As an Occupational Therapist you will:

  • Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team by working without general supervision and by providing occupational therapy services to designated clients who are seriously affected by substance use and mental health problems to enable them to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes.
  • Travel to various work locations.
  • Perform assessments on client’s occupational performance utilizing an evidence-based approach.
  • Plan and implement outcome oriented services, evaluate the effectiveness of the services and act as a clinical resource for the team.
  • Prepare and maintain records.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary research.
  • Demonstrate safe and effective resource utilization and quality management, and contribute to the development, review and promotion of occupational therapy services.
  • As required, contribute to the organization and delivery of occupational therapy services by participating in departmental/program quality improvement initiatives, meetings, research and education.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

ACT teams bring health care and life-skills support to clients; all of whom would have difficulty arranging and keeping appointments with traditional office-based health care practitioners. ACT uses a trauma informed approach to promote recovery through community-based treatment and rehabilitation. The ACT team strives to reduce the number of contacts between police and their clients with severe and persistent mental health conditions and substance use concerns.
