Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) offers a supportive environment for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and a tailored orientation and post-graduate education opportunities for both new graduates and experienced providers.
VCH’s UPCCs have state of the art facilities and provide urgent care for patients with non-life-threatening injuries, illnesses and conditions that should be addressed within 12 to 24 hours, but do not require the service and expertise of a hospital emergency department. We have opportunities in our UPCCs in Richmond, Vancouver, and North Vancouver.
VCH UPCCs ensure quality patient centred care, provided by supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary teams who are enthusiastic about patients. Join a well-established and rapidly growing group of NPs who practice with teams of physicians, NPs, nurses, and allied health providers.
Residencies and Supports:
We provide thorough onboarding and support for new and experienced NPs in all settings and programs.
We offer a new 6 months Post Graduate UPCC Nurse Practitioner Advanced Education Program (advanced education equalling 200 hours and clinical mentorship for the first 3 months).NPs hired to this program will receive in depth in house advanced training within a clinical area relevant to the position, improve your team collaboration and develop a model of patient-centred care. This is your opportunity to consolidate your nurse practitioner education with a team helping to support your successful transition into independent practice. VCH NP leadership and the UPCC program will provide matched mentorship and support, exposure and training in several clinical areas pertinent to the UPCC environment, dedicated clinical supervision, protected time for self directed learning relevant to your clinical practice learning needs, and unique and individualized support as you transition from a novice to independent and experienced provider at the UPCC. This is an 18-month return of work commitment which will ensure consolidation and skill building in this specialty area.
Education, Licensing, & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN/MSN - NP) or equivalent degree in a relevant field.
- Current, full or provisional registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), or eligibility for.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
