Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a registered Dietitian to join the Youth Mental Health & Addiction team in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Clinical Dietitian 2 with VCH you will:

  • Provide comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop, implement and evaluate individualized nutritional care plans for an assigned and/or designated client population.
  • Develop, coordinate and present relevant educational material for diverse populations and provide nutritional counselling and client-centered individual, family and group counselling to designated client population within the program.
  • Provide nutritional counselling and therapeutic counseling, provide individual follow up and home visits as required.
  • Participate in program and strategic planning and research activities.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Current registration with the College of Dietitians of BC.
  • Two (2) years’ recent related clinical experience working in a mental health setting including the counselling of various client groups and working with various client population with eating disorders, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes, as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.
  • Broad knowledge of clinical dietetic theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
  • Knowledge of the standards of practice and guidelines for clinical practitioners established by the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
  • General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safety care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations.
  • Broad knowledge of nutritional needs/concerns of eating disorders for children, youth and adolescents.
  • Broad knowledge of enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess client responses to care plan and to respond appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with co-workers, physicians, other health care professionals, clients and their families, and external agencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement nutrition care plans in relation to designated client/family priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and to think critically.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work direction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated skill and ability to operate related equipment and techniques appropriate to clinical areas.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
