We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Pediatricians to join our growing team at Lions Gate Hospital (LGH). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to infants, children, and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. LGH is a Tier 3 pediatric site for VCH- Coastal Community of Care. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the health of our community and work alongside a dedicated team of professionals. The posting is for 0.5 FTE.
This department has a 10-bed paediatric inpatient unit and a 6-bed Level 2 Neonatal ICU (NICU). The department also supports an obstetrical program delivering 1600 babies per year. Pediatrics at LGH treats approximately 1000 patients per year and is a satellite site for medical student and resident training through the Department of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia. Teaching within the context of clinical care is a requirement. The applicant must have experience working in an acute-care setting and expertise in caring for a diverse patient population within a busy community hospital, including Level 2b NICU care (supporting CPAP for 2-3 days). The successful applicant will demonstrate high professional standards, competence, and strong clinical skills. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in the care of adolescents with eating disorders.
This FFS position will include both inpatient care (pediatrician of the week model, overnight call, neonatal resuscitation, NICU care) and outpatient clinics (pediatric rapid access clinic and asthma clinic).
Lions Gate Hospital (LGH) provides a comprehensive spectrum of acute care services to a broad region encompassing the North Shore, Sea-to-Sky Country, the Sunshine Coast, and Powell River, serving a population exceeding 270,000 residents. Our services include general medicine, emergency and critical care, surgery, orthopaedics, maternity, pediatrics, psychiatry, chemotherapy, cardiac care, diagnostics, nuclear medicine, palliative care, rehabilitation, and neurosurgery.
As a recognized trauma centre, LGH is equipped with 269 acute beds, eight operating rooms, and a wide array of diagnostic services and equipment. Our recently opened Paul Myers Tower enhances our capacity with 108 private patient rooms, eight new operating rooms, and 39 pre- and post-operative spaces, alongside a modern medical reprocessing department and dedicated outpatient clinics. This new tower also incorporates green and cultural spaces to further support patient recovery and well-being.
