Richmond Hospital is a fully accredited, 228 acute care bed facility serving a local population of 200,000 with an additional catchment area of almost 120,000. Richmond Hospital is focused on meeting the needs of the people it serves and is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide services to an adult population in a team-based model.

Richmond is the fourth most populous and fast growing municipalities in Metro Vancouver. To meet the growing demand for healthcare services, Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is ensuring we plan for the future. Richmond Hospital is undergoing plans for a campus wide expansion and renewal. As announced on July 2020 by the Premier and Minster of Health, the aims is to build a new acute care tower. Incorporating modernized healthcare design principles, the new facility provide increased inpatient care beds, perioperative services, medical imaging and emergency services to support quality patient care and staff wellness and safety. Detailed planning is currently underway with a project completion target of 2028.

It is an expectation that a client centred recovery focussed approach is followed along with engaging community partners like Mental health Team, Assertive community Treatment team etc. Comprehensive care is provided in 2 west unit for full spectrum of psychiatric disorders in general adult population.

As a Psychiatrist with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will:

  • Provides psychiatric assessment and treatment to patients admitted in medical and surgical wards, and would liaise and collaborate with the primary care team for integrated patient care.
  • Provide assessment, daily management, rounding on psychiatric clients admitted to the unit.
  • Work as an integral part of the team providing leadership as the Most Responsible Physician in treating the patients.
Qualifications

Education, Licensing, & Experience:

  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License - Full
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Previous experience of working in an inpatient unit is an asset.
