Department mission

Plan and oversee urban planning to ensure citizens have a quality of life focused on environmental, social, cultural and economic sustainability.

Responsibilities and goals

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Special Projects – Planning, Regulations and Special Projects, the jobholder will perform several varied mandates pertaining to urban planning. The jobholder will perform research and analysis to support work carried out by various teams in the Planning Department. In addition, she or he will participate in the review process of the Planning Program and by-laws.

The jobholder’s main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Conducts studies, forecasts, research, regulatory analysis and socioeconomic studies relating to planning;
  • Performs analysis using geomatics tools and prepares visual documents such as: maps, charts and plans to provide support for the Planning Department’s planning mission;
  • Prepares and drafts administrative reports, communication tools, technical documents and recommendations on various themes relating to land use planning, housing, environment, transport and urban mobility;
  • Participates in the City’s multidisciplinary internal or external working groups and cooperates and/or coordinates with the main partners involved;
  • Provides support for some mandates carried out by the Planning Department teams;
  • Designs dashboards and project schedules, and ensures respect for the resources allocated; reports on deviations to their superior;
  • Performs all other related duties.

Job requirements

  • The jobholder must hold an undergraduate degree in planning, development, architecture or any other relevant field. A total of at least two (2) years of experience is required to hold this position.
  • Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory framework applicable to planning, land use planning and management issues, and QGIS software are assets.
  • The position requires sufficient proficiency in French and good knowledge of English in order to carry on a conversation, lead a workshop or participate in a work meeting, and write and correct letters, directives and technical documents.

Schedule:

35 hours per week

For the period between Thanksgiving and the first Monday of May: Monday to Friday inclusively, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., minus one hour for lunch. For the period between the first Monday of May and Thanksgiving: Monday to Thursday inclusively, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., minus 45 minutes for lunch; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon.
