EXPECTED START DATE: Flexible

SUMMARY:

As part of a targeted recruitment strategy designed to address the shortage of food services supervisors and diet and menu technicians (classifications 2029 and 2072), we are pleased to announce that for the year 2023–2024, Vitalité Health Network is looking for someone interested in the role of Food Service worker to whom we will be offering the financial support needed to cover the training costs of the Nutrition and Food Services Management Certificate offered by CHA Learning (valued at $6,420). This independent learning program is offered online in English only and may be completed in a minimum of 18 months or a maximum of four years. In the past, people were able to take this training while continuing to do their jobs.

Since the employer is committed to paying most of the training program costs, this offer is a particularly attractive opportunity for people looking for career advancement and to acquire new knowledge and competencies in the nutrition and food services management field.

The main responsibility of food services supervisors is to supervise employees engaged in providing meal service while the main responsibility of diet and menu technicians is to provide patient nutrition screening, intervention, and menu planning.

According to our analysis of our current and succession planning needs, it has been determined that for 2023–2024, priority will go to candidates who are willing to commit to eventual employment within a Network food service. Employees will be selected based on the Network’s needs and the profile sought.

The selection criteria are as follows:

  • Canadian secondary school certificate or equivalent;
  • Good knowledge of English to successfully complete a unilingual training program. (proof of secondary school English language training considered an asset);
  • Experience in nutrition and food services considered an asset;
  • Good information technology skills;
  • Ability, discipline and commitment needed to take the distance training program;
  • Return-of-service commitment to be required by the Network after the training is completed;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Supervisory abilities (for food services supervisor positions, classification 2029);
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules.

  • The above requirements may be verified through oral, written or practical tests during the selection process.
  • We thank all applicants in advance; however, only those candidates selected will be contacted.
