JOB SUMMARY:

As part of Vitalité Health Network's Patient Safety Department, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating and promoting patient safety activities for the zone in priority, and then for the learning client program(s) to which they are functionally attached. The incumbent works closely with all levels of the organization to promote a coordinated and continuous approach to patient safety activities in order to reduce Vitalité Health Network's exposure to risks that could adversely affect the safety of patients, staff and the public. The advisor's responsibilities include coordinating follow-up to reported incidents and providing support to managers for their follow-up, carrying out trend analyses on incidents and conducting risk analyses. They coordinate claims follow-up and liaise between the organization and the insurer for all incident-related litigation. Also, in addition to all the other tasks assigned to this position, the incumbent acts as a consultant in special situations, helping to reduce risks for the organization.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Undergraduate degree in a health discipline or any other equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Specific training in risk management or openness to taking a course in risk management within two years of taking up the position (optional for temporary positions);
  • At least five years' work experience in a hospital setting;
  • Management experience an asset;
  • Knowledge of the legal or legislative field an asset;
  • Mental health experience an asset;
  • Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent could be considered;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Good judgment, tact and discretion;
  • Good skills in all aspects of communication (reading, writing, speaking);
  • Proficiency with computer tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Meditech, iReport, etc.);
  • Knowledge of spoken and written English and French mandatory;
  • Ability to travel within the Network’s territory and the province;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules.
