JOB SUMMARY:
The incumbent reports directly to the Director of Organizational Risk Management. As part of the activities of Vitalité Health Network’s organizational risk office, the successful candidate is responsible for coordinating the follow-up on the following: 1) alerts and recalls for medical devices that the Network receives; 2) mandatory reporting to Health Canada of serious adverse drug reactions (ADRs) and medical device incidents (MDIs); and 3) voluntary reporting to the Canadian Medical Devices Sentinel Network (CMDSNet) of medical device incidents that do not meet the mandatory reporting criteria. This person is also responsible for creating an internal products complaint management process for the Network.
To ensure the safety of care and services and reduce organizational risks, the successful candidate is also responsible for all activities related to, but not limited to, these three main portfolios, i.e. policy/procedure revision and development, promotion and teaching of Network staff, creation of databases, regular and on-demand preparation of various reports, sharing of information on the collaboration site and on Boulevard, participation in meetings with partners, etc. This person also acts as a resource person for all issues related to these portfolios.
The successful candidate works in collaboration with the patient safety advisors in identifying and reporting ADRs and MDIs, disclosing certain alerts or recalls to patients, and on other related issues and tasks.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Degree or diploma in the field of health, information management or administration or any other equivalent combination of training and experience;
- Medical terminology training considered an asset;
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a hospital setting;
- Excellent computer (Microsoft Office) and electronic record management skills;
- Written and spoken knowledge of English and French (necessary);
- Good skills in all forms of communication (reading, writing, speaking), including presentation skills;
- Ability to build connections and create networks;
- Solid analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making and planning skills;
- In-depth understanding of physiopathology, pharmacology, medical terminology and health care systems;
- Data analysis, interpretation, communication and presentation skills;
- Ability to effectively prioritize several tasks and meet report production deadlines;
- Ability to work independently and as a team member;
- Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
- Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethics principles, to the Network management philosophy and organizational values;
- Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Vitalité Health Network.
