Registered Nurse Class B (RNCB)

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager of the Provincial Medical Genetics Program, the Genetics Nurse works closely with a multidisciplinary team of geneticists, genetics counsellors and research professionals. In this role, the successful candidate will provide clinical support, welcoming and conducting the initial assessment of patients at the Genetics Clinic. They will draw blood samples and collect other biological samples required for genetic testing, and assist geneticists during consultations and with the preparation of clinical records. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the development of the clinic. This will involve participating in research projects and continuous quality improvement initiatives within the clinic, as well as contributing to the team’s continuing education and to the mentorship of new staff members.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Member in good standing of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• BLS (basic life support) certificate and maintenance of certification
• Working knowledge of computers
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Physical ability to perform assigned work
• Good work history (performance and attendance)
• Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values
• Adherence to the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network
