JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate supports the manager in the planning, organization, coordination and evaluation of optimal nursing and contributes to the delivery of the highest quality clinical care. The incumbent acts as a clinical leader for the care staff as well as the multidisciplinary team and is also responsible for the specialized orientation and ongoing training of nursing staff in their sector. Using an evidence-based approach, the incumbent participates in the drafting and updating of policies, procedures and protocols as well as in the implementation of best practices. The incumbent collaborates in the administration of the department as well as the management of staff, assists the nurse manager in their administrative duties, and may have to perform any other related duty as per the needs of the department.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Registered by the New Brunswick Nurses Association
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training (CPI) or completion by established deadline
  • Training in prevention and management of suicidal behaviours or completion by established deadline
  • Skills using computer tools
  • Minimum of five years’ direct and recent experience in the field of mental health, addiction services or psychiatry
  • Demonstrated increasing responsibilities through which the person has shown leadership skills and competencies in management
  • Ability to teach and transmit knowledge to others
  • Analytical, synthesizing and decision-making skills
  • The following personal qualities: sound judgment, initiative and creativity, and adaptation to change
  • Proven skills in interpersonal relations and in oral and written communication
  • Conflict management skills
  • Ability to act as a change agent         
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work
  • Good work history (performance and attendance)
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network’s management philosophy and organizational values
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network’s confidentiality rules

  1. Availability to be relocated within the mental Health, addictions services and psychiatric unit of the zone as required by operational needs.
