PASS - Construction Coordinator

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board serves over 38,000 learners and provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adult learners) across the Waterloo Region.

General Description of Duties:

Manage construction projects from design stage to complete stage. Projects include construction of new schools and, major renovations to Board buildings ensuring each project is completed in accordance with project timelines, budgets and WCDSB standards.

Prepare all Ministry reporting related to construction such as space templates, approval to proceed and budget breakdown.

Receive, process, and close out work orders related to construction work.

Assist in the maintenance of the capital asset management database (VFA). Ensure asset drawing database information is updated at completion of project including all Ministry reporting.

Determine deficiencies and execute maintenance projects to meet needs of the Schools/Board buildings.

Prepare and review contract and specification documents for the procurement of professional and contract services

Responsible for the progress of assigned construction/maintenance projects and attend job site meetings

Review and approve invoices, progress draws, change orders and schedules

Liaise and determine resolutions between school staff, project consultants, contractors and municipal building officials.

Review and prepare tender documents for a variety of building and site related projects.

Assist in the development of and updating of building construction standards.

Ensure asset and drawing database information is updated at completion of projects.

Develop construction estimates for proposed projects.

Facilitate in the purchasing, moving, obtaining of permits, and electrical connections of our portable classrooms

Assist in the preparation of capital plans, energy conservation plans, and other ministry submissions.

Ability to serve as Facility Services “On Call” emergency response contact on a rotational basis

M inimum Requirements:

3-year Diploma in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology program

Minimum five years experience in a related position preferably in an institutional environment or a combination of construction and facility management experience

An applied knowledge of building systems with particular emphasis on mechanical, electrical and structural components and energy management within institutional or commercial buildings

Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code

Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, Autocad and work order systems

Ability to read & understand construction drawings & specifications as well as familiarity with the construction tender process

Excellent analytical and organizational skills; ability to work within firm time schedules and budgets

Valid drivers license and personal vehicle

Salary Range: PASS - Level 4, $66,311.00 - $78,012.00 with $4,337.00-$5,103.00 allowance

Hours of Work : Permanent full time: 35 hours per week
