The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 38,000, provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.

Applications for the position of Temporary SSC Teacher - Educational Assistant Learning Opportunity are being accepted by St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres.
General Description of Program:
The Educational Focused Learning Opportunity is available to individuals who have successfully completed the St. Louis PSW program who want to gain employment as Educational Assistants within a WCDSB school-based setting. The program will support learning through content connected to the HPD4C and Cooperative Education credit courses as it pertains to the role of an Educational Assistant. All credit courses follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
The Teacher(s) will report to the Principal of St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres and will collaborate within the Special Education Department of the WCDSB.
General Description of Duties:
Collaborate and co-facilitate curriculum delivery with special education staff
Develop and deliver the secondary school credit content for the HPD 4C and Co-operative Education curriculum in a classroom and WCDSB school setting
Oversee the Co-operative Education component of the EA Focused Learning Opportunity program to prepare students for placements in WCDSB school settings
Identify students’ individual learning needs and use a variety of instructional strategies to support student academic success
Assess and evaluate the progress of students and discuss results with students to build next steps for improvement
Liaise with Administration
M inimum Requirements:
A current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (If no candidates with an OCT apply, other candidates will be considered)
Desirable Assets:
Senior teaching qualifications in the subject area (Family Studies)
Senior teaching qualifications in the subject area (Cooperative Education)
Special Education qualifications
Experience in working with special education policy and procedures in school settings
Previous teaching/training experience with adult population

Program Hours: December 2, 2024 - February 4, 2025
Monday to Friday
8:45 am - 3:30 pm
30 hours/week with a 30 minute unpaid lunch
In-person delivery
Rate of Pay: OCT rate $51.53 per hour + Statutory and vacation pay
Uncertified rate $45.69 + Statutory and vacation pay
