UNIFOR - Supply Custodian

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board serves over 30,000 learners and provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adult learners) across the Waterloo Region.

The Board conducts intentional recruitment and selection as it seeks to achieve a state of greater equity for employees and students and to diversify its workforce.

All qualified applicants are welcome and encouraged to apply and applicants may choose to indicate if they are from a group who has experienced racial or social discrimination. Self-identification data will be used as a consideration in this posting. Aggregate data will be stored anonymously to support improvements to the Board’s hiring processes.

The WCDSB maintains a pool of Supply Custodians who are called to replace permanent custodians who are absent from work. A Supply Custodian will work approximately 10 to 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. Supply Custodians are not assigned to one specific location and may have travel to more than one location on a shift. Our geographic region is within Waterloo Region.

Currently, all supply custodians are working 40 hours each week (consistently). This is a non-denominational position; Pastoral Reference is not required.

Over the last two years on average, it is taking a new supply custodian less then 14 months to get a permanent position if they have met all the expectations and service levels. This position is the only pathway to a fulltime career at WCDSB.
