Job Posting 24-239 100% PERMANENT Early Childhood Educator (ECE) 10 MONTH Start Date: to be determined (Jan 2025) Location: Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School, Guelph Hours: 6.5 hours per day, 32.5 hours per week (Scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) Rate of Pay: starting at $24.03 - $32.80 per hour Reporting to the Principal, the Early Childhood Educator will partner with the Classroom Teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning program within a classroom setting and provide supervision and age- appropriate programming for groups of students. The Catholic Early Childhood Educator will collaborate with the school teacher in the design of programs and environments which will enhance children's cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Partner with the classroom teacher and other designated staff and parent to plan and implement the early learning kindergarten program through developmentally appropriate curriculum-based activities Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other designated staff to support individual student's identified needs, strengths, interests and stages of development Observe, monitor and assess the development of pupils in JK/K and extended day program. Partner with the classroom teacher and special education teacher to carry out specialized activities to support learning for children requiring an Individual Education Plan (IEP) Maintain appropriate records for students, (e.g. health, attendance, etc.) Collaborate and maintain set-up of classroom (e.g. display, organization of material etc.) Assist children in washroom routines, dressing and lunchtime activities Organize and supervise children on field trips Attend staff meetings, appropriate school level meetings and professional development activities Complete any other duties as assigned by Principal REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Hold a two-year community college Early Childhood Education Diploma Proof of registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators Knowledge of Ministry of Education full day early learning program Experience planning and implementing age-appropriate programs Basic computer skills; and strong organization and time management skills Ability to communicate and collaborate with others Knowledge of related legislation and working knowledge of WCDSB related policies and procedures Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents, staff and the general public Proven ability to follow organizational policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner Understanding and commitment to confidentiality Demonstrate knowledge of classroom management and take appropriate actions based on established board policies and procedures Experience in the early learning kindergarten program is an asset Basic food handling procedures is an asset Qualified OSSTF-ESS members in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators are invited to apply.
