Under the direction of the Coordinator or Supervisor ‐ Nutrition & Food Services, Cook 2 or Cook 1, the Dietary Aide is responsible for the completion of assigned tasks in relation to the safe preparation, serving, and distribution of nutritious meals to clients. The incumbent is responsible for serving meals to the staff and visitors, performing cashier duties, following proper sanitation safety guidelines. This is in addition to following established standards, departmental/regional policies and procedures and government regulations and legislation.
The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health‐Santé Sud.

Sous la direction du Coordonnateur ou Superviseur - Nutrition et service d’alimentation, et du Cuisinier 1 ou 2, l’Aide-diététiste est responsable d’exécuter les tâches assignées en lien avec la préparation et la distribution sans risque de repas nutritifs aux clients. Il ou elle est chargé×e non seulement de servir des repas au personnel et aux visiteurs, mais aussi de travailler à la caisse, tout en suivant les lignes directrices en matière de sécurité et d’hygiène. En outre, il(elle) doit respecter les normes établies, les politiques et procédures internes/régionales, ainsi que les lois et règlements gouvernementaux.
Le ou la titulaire du poste bénéficie d’un niveau d’initiative approprié et fait preuve d’un jugement indépendant pour déterminer les priorités de travail, les méthodes de travail à utiliser et les mesures à adopter pour traiter les questions inhabituelles. Les fonctions du poste sont exercées d’une manière conforme à la vision, à la mission, aux valeurs et aux politiques de Southern Health-Santé Sud.
- Six (6) months previous experience in food handling and/or healthcare food services.
Expérience:
- Six (6) mois d’expérience dans la manipulation des aliments et|ou dans les services d’alimentation en milieu de santé.
- Minimum Grade 10 education.
- Completion of a Dietary Aide certificate.
- Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course or be willing to acquire a Food Handler Training Certificate in the first six (6) months of employment.
- Other suitable combination of education and experience may be considered.
Formation (degré/diplôme/certificat):
- Minimum d’une dixième (10) année d’études.
- Certificat d’aide diététique.
- Certificat de formation en manipulation des aliments de niveau 1 ou avoir suivi un cours équivalent sur l’hygiène alimentaire, ou être prêt×e à obtenir cette attestation de formation de niveau 1 dans les six (6) premiers mois de travail.
- Combinaison équivalente d’études et d’expérience pourrait être prise en considération.
- Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent Food Sanitation course.
Certification/permis d’exercice/enregistrement:
- Certificat de formation à la manipulation des aliments de niveau 1 ou cours équivalent sur l’hygiène alimentaire.
- Proficiency of both official languages is essential (English/French).
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook/Email and online training.
- Knowledge of therapeutic and texture modified diets.
- Knowledge of sanitary food handling principles and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of Electronic Menu Management Information System (EMMIS) (This for positions located in Sites that use an Electronic Menu Management System).
- Demonstrated competency in cash management.
- Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
- Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
- Good work and attendance record.
Qualifications et compétences:
- Compétences dans les deux langues officielles (français et anglais) est essentielle.
- Connaissance et compréhension des applications Microsoft Office, Outlook/courriel et formation en ligne.
- Connaissance et compréhension des régimes thérapeutiques et à texture modifiée.
- Connaissance et compréhension des pratiques hygiéniques et la manipulation des aliments.
- Connaissance et compréhension du système de gestion du menu électronique (EMMIS) (Ceci pour les postes situés dans des sites utilisant un système de gestion électronique des menus).
- Compétence démontrée en gestion de trésorerie.
- Capacité requise à respecter et à promouvoir une population culturellement diversifiée étant donné la diversité culturelle de notre région.
- Capacité démontrée à respecter la confidentialité de l’information, qu’elle soit dans des documents papier, électroniques ou sous toutes autres formes.
- Bons antécédents de travail et d’assiduité.
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- Demonstrated ability to lift items up to 1‐5 kg (2.2 ‐ 11 lbs.) constantly, 6‐11kg (13.2 - 24 lbs.) occasionally and 23 kg (50 lbs.) seldomly.
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- May work occasionally evenings and weekends as per work rotation or as necessary.
