Under the general supervision of the Coordinator, Protection Services or designate, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of the St. Boniface Hospital, the Groundskeeper is responsible for: ensuring the overall appearance and maintenance of all grounds, parking lots, building entrances, exits, etc., of the Hospital complex and affiliated buildings; performing auxiliary groundskeeping duties including cleaning, planting and repairing as required or directed; and for performing other related duties as assigned.
- Three (3) years’ experience in grounds maintenance.
- Previous experience operating a skid steer loader (i.e. - bob cat) is required.
- Grade 12 or recognized equivalent.
- Certified as a Landscape Technician by the Province of Manitoba Department of Labour.
- A Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license is required and must be maintained.
- A Valid Manitoba Class 4 driver’s license may be required and must be maintained for some positions.
- Must possess a current and relevant Skid Steer Loader course certificate from the Manitoba Safety Council - or - will have to successfully obtain certificate at a time scheduled by the employer or at a time mutually agreed upon between the incumbent and the employer.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
