Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager - Labour Relations, the Scheduling Coordinator facilitates effective scheduling practices across Southern Health-Santé Sud by directing work flow of Scheduling Clerks and Staffing Clerks, and liaising with sites and programs, Payroll, and Human Resources. The incumbent works directly with Scheduling Clerks and Staffing Clerks and coordinates efforts for cross-coverage, vacation relief, and knowledge sharing. As a subject-matter expert, the Scheduling Coordinator assists with hiring and training, ongoing education needs, addressing performance concerns, and stays current on all unionized scheduling guidelines.

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience
  • Minimum one (1) year scheduling experience required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a health care setting.
  • Prior experience directing or coordinating staff an asset.
  • Prior experience working with a remote team an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Completion of a Leadership Development program preferred.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ESP scheduling software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with QHR payroll software.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret Collective Agreements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of MGEU Technical Professional Paramedical, Manitoba Nurses’ Union, CUPE Community and Facility Support, and Physician and Clinical Assistant of Manitoba Inc. Collective Agreements preferred.
  • Knowledge of Manitoba Employment Standards as it relates to scheduling non-union employees.
  • Knowledge of scheduling principles in a health care setting.
  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of many to achieve a common goal.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret collective agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a virtual team.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use an analytical and inquiring approach to problem-solving and program development.

  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.
Physical Requirements
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require.
